A stunning renovation of a Marrickville heritage-listed home has been completed by the Bayside Built team, with natural stone supplied by Sareen Stone.
Located on a small triangle-shaped plot in one of Sydney‘s most sought-after suburbs on Marrickville, the one-storey 3 bedroom heritage-listed home shows off its traditional façade but was given a contemporary update with a thoughtful mix of natural materials including stone, bricks, timber and steel to create an organic touch.
During the project the Bayside Built team designed timber veneer built-in joinery and floating vanities to create space for washing appliances and necessities. Embracing the unusual shape of the land, a custom-made triangular-shaped plunge pool made from materials sourced from Sareen Stone and outdoor shower were also added to make the most of the outdoor area.
Sareen Stone granite pavers and pool coping formed the basis of the outdoor landscaping, along with mosaic tiles and a poolside skimmer lid.

The project embraced the principles of sustainable ecodesign, with exposed brick walls built from recycled bricks reused from the home’s previous brickwork removed during the renovation process and reused as a design feature. These upcycled materials have been blended seamlessly with newly-supplied naturial materials to help to form a visual flow and cohesion throughout the extension.
Floor-to-ceiling bi-fold doors link the outdoors with interiors and maximise use of indoor light in the kitchen, dining and living areas. Embracing the unusual shape of the land, a unique custom-made triangular-shaped plunge pool was added to make the most of the narrow backyard.

Handmade Morrocan tiles in the bedrooms and bathrooms help form a bold contrast to the clean wall tiling but also bring warmth and character to these often faceless environments. Luxurious rain showerheads, underfloor heating and exclusive steel-cut bench basins ultimately turn them into a private spa.
