Sareen Stone’s Managing Director, Duncan Blyth, knows a thing or two about landscaping. In fact its just on 30 years since he started working for a local Sydney landscaper and the rest as they say is history!
After completing his Diploma in Horticulture and Landscape Construction and Stonemasonry at the then Ryde Horticultural College, Duncan began his own landscaping business. His clients were varied and included high-end residential and medium-sized commercial projects.
These projects included creating landscapes for residential projects on Sydney’s lower & upper north shore and Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and the creation of community parks including the installation of play and exercise equipment for new subdivisions and landscaping for display villages.
A highly memorable project was for a display village where the landscaping connected 7 houses, enabling clients to walk through from start to finish. During this time the business engaged 18 employees, several trucks and a Bobcat to keep up with the demand.
An opportunity to try something a little less physical came along and Duncan joined forces with one of his then clients, Paul and together they started Sareen Stone in 2003. This meant working with those same contacts only now he would supply the landscaping materials rather than build with them.

Now, 14 years later, Duncan is proud to say he is still working with many of those he worked with back in the start up days, such as builders, architects and landscape designers, assisting them select the materials they need to complete their high-end residential builds or their landscape projects.
As a qualified structural landscaper & stonemason Duncan’s building knowledge in the construction industry has come in very handy. Understanding the install process completely from his years of experience means his clients can rely on him for his knowledge of natural stone. He takes this knowledge and expertise with him when sourcing all types of stone from quarries all around the world for his Sareen Stone clients.

Duncan has seen Sareen Stone complete countless architecturally designed high end residential projects that require great detail - a part of the job that Duncan says can always provide a challenge, but he loves.
When Duncan finds the time he enjoys golf, tennis and skiing. In 2016 he had the opportunity to play in the BMW Golf Challenge in Queenstown against some pretty serious competition. Fun times with family and friends, helping out at soccer and building lego with his son are also high on his list of good times.
